So, how were the first two days of ELK. Anyone on this forum went to it?

I saw no great difference to when I last visited three years ago. Some familiar faces but I didn't pay much notice to who I was buying off. These photos were taken about 10:30 Saturday morning. I wasn't there Friday or Sunday.

I wouldn't be that interested in the rarer, bigger and difficult to grow and/or expensive plants. There was certainly plenty of choice and lots of big plants for sale.

Thanks for posting the link Phil. I was surprised to see the bare root plants. Is this a European thing or do you see it over here at C&S plant fairs?

I've seen it at our National Show but from these same sellers from the mainland. I guess it's a thing you do if you're travelling a long way with limited space! I think it's a great idea for a specialist event - they keep their costs down and can bring a wider range, I can better check the health of the plant and can take more home.

On the negative side you have to write the plant name on the bag provided. Then when you pot it up at home it needs to get a temporary label before being labelled permanently and added to the collection.

I find this a bit of a nuisance personally as correct identification and labelling takes me a lot of time. Not a biggie for most people I suppose......

The labels could still be provided on the side, then both sides would be happy! I must admit I prefer plants shipped bare root, one less thing I have to do when they arrive.
