You can chop it up into small pieces and keep dropping a bit or two into litter bins.

Or

Take it to the local recycle centre (tu)

Or

Dry it off, season it, then make a walking stick (tu) (tu)

I have sharpened a hook and was going to attack it later but am worried about mis hitting it and finding a terminal spine through the hand

Goodness Mike, sounds a bit hazardous. Could you just leave it for a while until it starts to die back and collapse, assuming something like that will happen. Perhaps not very tidy, but might be easier.

Looks too nice to chop it up, I'd leave it until next year & see what happens to it.

Advertise it on eBay as an ex-MoD surplus what-have-you, collection in person only. Doubtless someone will take it off your hands...

I compost just about everything including dead cacti but the scale of this was slightly daunting. In the end I sawed it off at soil level and used a an axe to hack it into small pieces....Mrs P videoed it.....
I like Fred’s idea of a kind of great escape type method of disposing of the pieces.....late evening exercise walks with pieces of agave in the pockets...

I see the headline on next week's Bromley Times ..... Plant Stalks Walkers in Wood. Police suspect Central American links.
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.
