The colour of the fruit makes a nice contrast! I've often wondered how useful the colour of Mammillaria fruit is in identifying the species. There seems to be all manner of subtly different shades.

These Baja species often have long orange fruits, like M. boolii.

Short red ones on the core Mammillaria species, like M. columbiana.

Sometimes buried in the stem. I don't have any good photos of that!
