Re: Euphorbia flanaganii
Looking at the results of a Google image search I’d agree that the cyathia on your plant doesn’t look like flanaganii or caput medusae. Hopefully someone with knowledge of this group of Euphorbias will pop up, in the meantime a photo of the whole plant might be helpfulFredG wrote: ↑Sun Jul 24, 2022 2:51 pm Eric, it's my understanding that the Cyathium is comprised of bracts which encompass a female flower surrounded by several male flowers.
My question would be as to why there are no other photos on the web in which the Cyathium match the colouring of my plant? It neither matches E. flanaganii nor E. caput-medusae. I've also not seen any comments on the essence of cow byre that emanates there from.

Re: Euphorbia flanaganii
My plant has similar flowers. I also used to have a more typical flanaganii. The latter had pale flowers and much more spindly arms than this one. I have a potful of seedlings from presumably a cross between the two.
And yes, it stinks!

Re: Euphorbia flanaganii
I shared your confusion when it first flowered. Still not convinced it actually is flanaganii, but yes - there is another plant like yours out there.
I must replace the other one. They seem to react badly to a totally dry winter and shrivel alarmingly. I have often meant to ask on here if people water them in winter.

I was having a ponder with E. gorgonis.

Re: Euphorbia flanaganii
That looks very like my 'flanaganii' plant. Here is a photo of the flower of my gorgonis from Silverhill seed. The colour is similar but there are subtle shape differences.
