Good to see that Spalding Branch have their Cactus Mart organised for Sat 23rd April 2022. This is always a good day out and I've heard that all the sales tables have been allocated and all the usual nurseries will be there. It's free admission and will be from 10am to 3pm at Holbeach Community Centre at Holbeach, a few miles from Spalding. Spalding Branch meeting might be on the Friday night and Southfields, the UK's largest retail cactus nursery is only a few miles away so it's worth making it a weekend trip. I expect there'll be more info and a list of nurseries nearer the time.

Only a few days to go now, the Mart is at Holbeach this Saturday and the Friday night is Spalding Branch Meeting, one of the nurserymen is giving a 'What's New in the Cactus World' talk using plants, slides and video. The meeting is at The Fraiser Room, Gosberton Rd, Surfleet, Spalding at 7.30pm. At the meeting before the last Mart in 2019, the meeting was 'a little rowdy' and the speaker was accused of bringing the Society into disrepute! Let's see what happens this time. Please note the new address for the Branch meetings, at Surfleet and not at Weston as shown on the BCSS website. The Mart is at the usual venue in Holbeach on the Saturday. To make a weekend of it, why not call in at Southfields Nursery on the Friday and I'd recommend Bay Tree Garden Centre nearby for a quick visit after the Mart.

Had a great time visiting this today. Great range of plants on offer at great prices and stopped off at a recommended nearby garden centre where I picked up some unusual woodland plants and a Beschornia yuccoides.
Will post some pictures of my haul in a bit. Good to chat to you as well Stuart.

Just great to get to actually see and chat to so many cactus folk.
Sorry Ed I didn't realise it was you picking up the A.nickelsiae.

I was quite surprised that this Echinopsis was still on the table quite late in the day, I thought it looked promising so had to bring it home.
Pleased that I did now.....

No problem at all Rob. Without forum name badges there'd be no way to know for most of us! It's a cracking plant that I've just potted up today. It had fantastic roots.
Was the Echinopsis from Southfields' stand? They had an amazing range of plants in flower! I was almost bought a big Helianthocereus but fortunately someone saved me by buying it as I was umming and ahhing!

edds and Rob yes it was a good day out and nice to chat to cacti people again.
edds name badges either Society or Forum would be a good idea, especially with the National Show coming later in the year.

I agree, I went and had a great time but would have liked to known if people who post on the forum were there, although I don't say much I read nearly everything. A name badge is a good idea.
