Apart from the "simple record" of the Society, the data they contain, is priceless. I'm looking at the ones so far, merely statistically, and mechanically, in terms of what was available and when. But are there any patterns in what was "fashionable" to grow? Then, I ask the question about are any of those plants grown XX years ago, alive today? Have any of the plants gone on to yield seeds which themselves have gone into the Society distribution on the annual seed list or the seed bank?
The social history of the Society is hidden in this data.
WOW .. what a wealth waiting to be revealed.

Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

In real terms actually quite expensive. 4d in those days would have bought a loaf of bread .... today about 1 GBP.
6 packs of seeds .... 2 shillings ..... would buy a pint of beer .... today 4 to 5 GBP.
A young worker would be earning 5 GBP for 40 hours ......

Thanks Chris, this is a very useful exercise and I'm sure many of us will find it useful.
I can't download the Dec 2020 list from your Manchester branch page. I posted a link to a pdf original version of this previously in this thread which should be better than a scanned version.
