February 2022 - The colors and shapes of February

Post by rcapra »

February is the month that prepares for the arrival of spring: the plants are often tested by the cold and the absence of water for long months. What are the colors they have taken on? How much have they changed in their appearance?
I am excited because I imagine the extraordinary specimens that are resting in the greenhouses!

I fear that I have not correctly expressed in my words how magical this seasonal transition period can be. So I take the liberty of posting images that explain my February sharing proposal with the hope that you can participate with a palette of shades of colors. The colors and shapes of late winter are transient and express the adaptability of our plants - often, in my case, they push me to anticipate the times in the thought that the drought may be excessive but then the posts of the members of our society remember the risks of anticipating awakening.
As a recently acquired foreign member, any help is welcomed with great pleasure!

I think you expressed yourself clearly .... I understood it ..... just need time to find the plants and photograph them!
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

I spent some down time in the greenhouse yesterday afternoon thinking it is a quite a special time at this stage of the year which brings out some fleeting features in your plants. I am glad you suggested this topic!

Here are a few of my plants - they never look more spiny than they do now:

Tunilla cv Fuchs

Very unhappy and thirsty magnificus, looks like it's gasping for a little water, not long to go now...☺️

I haven't got round to identifying this one yet!
But I'm excited to see the beautiful buds coming along nicely and can't wait to see the yellow flowers (if I remember correctly) when they come out.
