Yet another Gasteria investigation (EVJ #, Kirstenbosch ~1995)

Post by MatDz »

I have received two new Gasterias, glomerata and (bicolor var.) liliputana, for which I'm trying to find some more information.

They both are offshoots of plants grown from seeds from Kirstenbosch purchased around 1995 and had EVJ numbers - that's a great start!

Both Martin's database and https://www.cl-cactus.com/ give me only one possibility for glomerata: EVJ 11054, and two for liliputana: EVJ 6913 & 9077.

Would anyone have, or know how and where can I find, Kirstenbosch seed lists from the nineties to see if any of these appeared there?

If your plants have numbers such as EVJ 95-nn, these numbers signify seeds offered by the Haworthia Society provided by Ernst van Jaarsveld in 1995. I still have many plants raised from this seed offering in my collection today.

Thank you Tony! Unfortunately, all I know is that the plants had EVJ collection numbers and they were grown from seeds coming from Kirstenbosch (Botanical Garden I assume), but the data were lost in the bowels of time, hence my attempts to "recover" them.
