April 2022 - Spring colors

Post by Aeonium2003 »

It's spring now, the time of stress colors and flowers. Maybe that Epiphyllum or Echinopsis hybrid is flowering. Or your Aloe hybrids are looking wonderful. Perhaps it's your Aeoniums looking colorful as they go into their dormant state.

I'll start this off with this unknown Echinopsis hybrid.

M. laui dasyacantha, enjoying the spring sunshine yesterday.
This is the first of my plants to flower this year.
Last year this same plant flowered for about a month and I'm hoping for a similar display this year.

For me, Mammillaria senilis tends to be the first of the cacti to flower (if it can be bothered at all, but mostly it does oblige). Definitely a sign of spring in my greenhouse!

Parodia schwebsiana
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

Photo's taken today. Spring is here in North East England. Forgive the aliens presence at the front it lives there for most of the year.

Not much colour in the flowers of this Mammillaria perezdelarosae but the only other colours in the greenhouse today were various shades of green that have been there all winter.
