Mammillaria cactus grafted onto a flowering pepper plant.

Just so more people in growing season see this and experiment more with the excess seedlings we all have each year. This is my first post on this forum but over the years under various pseudonyms in many different forums have advocated for experimenting completely random things. I grafted a mammillaria to a random pepper that is now flowering and the graft has taken and shows swelling at the base union and very minimal new growth. The graft may die completely due to incompatibility however the fact that it didn't die means that a graft is possible right? Maybe a different pepper stock, season, or cactus. Hopefully others try random seedling grafts and share any success or even failures.

2 month update

So the mammillaria graft is a bust but the astrophytum seems to be holding up just over a month since grafting without shrinking so far.

Does anyone know if the swollen/callous xylum section on the pepper plant is normal? I don't have experience with grafted peppers.

Posting here because I'm pretty sure Pat The Plant is from here and had excellent recommendations for me.
