Sheffield Branch Show - June 11 & 12

Post by MikeT »

The long awaited Sheffield Branch Show is back after missing the last 2 years due to Covid.
All the plants are even bigger and better (slight confession, maybe some of mine aren't).

Venue: Sheffield Botanical Gardens, Dorothy Fox Centre
Dates: Saturday 11th, 12md to 5pm and Sunday 12th June, 10am to 4pm

Free admission to the Botanical Gardens and to the Show. Plant sales, of course.

The Dorothy Fox Education Centre is near the Thompson Road entrance, directions here. Parking is limited.

One problem for the Botanical Gardens - the cafe/coffee shop is closed. There's an ice cream van instead. If you prefer coffee, Spoilt for Choice on Ecclesall Road, next to Thomson Road, does a good takeaway.

Sheffield Show update:

We will be providing refreshments: tea, coffee, and home-made cakes (while stocks last).
There will, of course, be plenty of sales plants (while stocks last, which is usually well into Sunday).

Not sure if attaching the schedule will work, but here it is:

Is this show typically large/well attended? I'm weighing up whether to make the trip up from Nottingham or not.
Growing in Nottingham for the past 4 years and recently found my way to a Nottingham branch meeting. A few plants on a windowsill has very quickly turned into a greenhouse full!

Attempting to grow a range of caudiciforms, tylecodon, euphorbia, coryphantha and turbinicarpus along with anything else that takes my fancy. I avoided mesembs for a long time but conophytums have recently broken my resolve.

All ready to go.
The show setup is almost complete.
Lots of entries.
Masses of sales plants.
Good weather guaranteed.
What could be a better way to spend a few hours this weekend?
