Weingartia time

Post by Astro »

More specifically, the Weingartia neocumingii complex.
They show a nice range of flower colors too beyond the ubiquitous yellow. Even the young plants seem capable of producing 20 or more flowers at a time (unfortunately not always open simultaneously).

White flowers (I have this one as 'sp. Z20' from ADBLPS a few years ago):

Yellow flowers. This one's label says sewingamaya but it's one of the endless variations on the neocumingii theme. I have another seedling with nice sparse spination.

A little more orangeish, neocumingii.

Another neocumingii, trending red.

And trollii, archetypical red Weingartia. There were probably 30 flower buds on this plant but it refuses to open more than a few at a time...

Wow ... Great to see
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

I really like that second-to-last one.

Just to add to the colour range:
