Over the last few weeks I thought this Echinocereus nivosus was pushing up another stem but this morning I noticed this. Photo 1.
And three hours later Photo 2.
It's not a new stem !

Snap! They don't make a huge number of flowers, so each one is special.

Wow!
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

Thats true iann they are sparing on nivosus, some clumps of Echinocereus would be sending a dozen up.
I have a E. salm-dyckianus only slightly bigger that has twenty or more flowers on most years, photo is from a few years ago ( I have split the clump up ).

Re: It's not a new stem !
A bit off topic but looking at the benching in Ray's picture made me wonder how that works.
It can't be possible to be growing things on the bottom layer under the black plastic tray, can it?
Are those benches cantilevered? Great idea, but wonder how you can get to the very top?
Gives me a great idea though, rolling layers of benches that you can pull out all day and push them in when you need to look at all of your wonderful plants!
My little greenhouse needs more space, so your's has given me something to work on!

Re: It's not a new stem !
Peter; the photo does not show it well but the shelves are slightly narrower as they go up, each side of that greenhouse has 5 shelves. with the back wall having 6.
Yes you can grow under each shelf on one side of the greenhouse because the sun gets to the back of each shelf.
But on the other side it does not, but plants needing half shade or very young seedlings are grown there.
The other greenhouse is a different orientation so I have mobile racks on wheels which I move out of the way to get in there and move around inside and replace them where I want as I leave. ( just as you say rolling layers of benches)
