Here are the additional photos of the flower today.
I've taken these from different angles around the flower.

This is the label. Got the generic name wrong and,now you've suggested ex G.C I think that might be it! I'm assuming from Graham Charles?

The question mark says it all, and not in connection with the spelling.

Someone uses my plant label shorthand - probably grown from seed (maybe a cutting from an unflowered parent), from GC (probably Graham Charles), who was unsure of exactly what it was.

The label shouts "lottery"!

It's not as pronounced an angle as my plant has but I'd still say this is brookeae. Incidentally, the handwriting and unbranded label suggest it came from Oak Dene rather than Abbey Brook...

It was definitely purchased by me from Abbey Brook. I've never been to Oak Dene. Obviously no idea where Brian may have sourced it from.

The descriptions I've read of brookeae suggest it has soft spines - this one certainly doesn't! They are short but firm spines.

I will email Graham and Brian Fearn over the weekend with some photos and report back.

It looks from the photo like there may be more than one plant in the pot, if so it would point to the probable origins

Agreed, the flower does, but Cleistocactus brookeae is erect, not lax.

Actually, some forms of Cleistocactus brookeae are indeed pendant (not just ssp vulpis-cauda).
