Phil, it would be much more appropriate to give these hybrids cultivar names. But the original Tavaresia meintjesii was collected in the wild as a natural hybrid.

Mike,

I don't accept the lumping of stapeliads into Ceropegia. FYI neither does Kew and now neither does the RHS on my recommendation.
Nor me Colin. I'm in good company....

For anyone interested, I've now tracked down some pictures of the real Tavaresia angolensis (on a page about Tavaresia barkleyi):

So the ones within the intersection of [5, 9] & [8, 14] are both angolensis and barklyi? Quite an useful key!

Key features of both true spp. of Tavaresia, i.e. T. angolensis & barklyi (note the spelling, no e) are the outer corona lobes, shown in the third photo down in the link: each lobe ends in a distinct knob or blob which is globose or pear-shaped. (Excuse the technical terms here.) As far as I'm aware no other stapeliad has an outer corona lobe of this structure, which is also absent from the hybrid xStaparesia meintjesii.

So, if your Tavaresia doesn't have this outer coronal knob or blob then it isn't a Tavaresia.
Cheers,
Colin
