This plant ( photo 1 ) was bought some years ago as Echinocereus ferreirianus, I had my doubts from the off, as the body colour was too green, so I bought some ferreirianus seeds from Mats Winberg and now they are 5-6 years old they look true to type with a blue-grey-green body.
So I waited to see what the flowers on this plant were like before renaming it.
Well now it has flowered ( photo 2 ) the mystery deepens, the flower is not Echinocereus looking at all.
A. it is very small ( makes davisii look large ).
B. the petals are bent back sharply.
C. the outer edge of the petals are green.
The only Echinocereus I have with a flower anything like that is E. coccineus ssp. paucispinus and those plants look nothing like this one.
Unfortunately it was bought from a private collection sale with no data so nursery or seed data I do not have.
If anyone has a clone or hybrid like this or any advice please drop a comment below.

Re: What is it ?
Yor original post can be read two ways - one way would be that there were the two plants in the two photo's.

Re: What is it ?
My best guess: a form of Echinocereus coccineus

Re: What is it ?
I am with you on that Tom.
Trouble with coccineus is that it is so variable and crosses over into triglochidiatus species.

Nice looking plant Ray
Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.
