One in flower, one in fruit

Post by Christian »

Neither plant is particularly large or impressive, but it's nice to still see a bit of Opuntia colour...

The first I have labelled Tephrocactus weberi v deminuta, first time flowering.

The second one I have labelled Tephrocactus nigrispinus ssp. atroglobosus. I usually miss the small flowers, but the fruits are pretty obvious.

Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

If only this opened its flowers occasionally... I've seen on here pictures of T. nigrispinus with lovely red flowers as you say, but on my plant the flowers always seem to stay closed before developing into these nice large seed pods... Not sure why it does this?
