Duvalias are interesting plants but all seem to look the same to me.
The scabby none flowering middle bits of the body will be composted after flowering.

Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs.

Re: Duvalia elegans v. namaquanum
Hi John,
I only ever had one Duvalia and yes it looked the same, but I like all stapelia types, but not having much success with them, they tend to burn or rot, just can't get it right!!
See if I can find a picture, it's some years back....

Very free draining compost and plenty of water during growth period.

Hi John,
Thanks, I think Herts_Mike said lots of sun, others suggest perhaps some shade, as they do grow low and under other vegitation...

I too used to think Duvlias look all a bit the same, but had to change my mind when my Duvalia sulcata flowered:

Re: Duvalia elegans v. namaquanum
Hi Ralph,
Yes that's a goodie! I like that one and it's quite different to others I've seen (not that I've see a lot, myself). Must try and get some more for next year and get a few going, with some shade and lots of water, 50% grit, etc. Would that be about right? I only have a small 6x7 Greenhouse and space it tight, it does get very hot in there, I think we touched 50c this year, and things may get hotter...
This Stapelia flavirostris dates back to 2016 and sorry to say I no longer have it.

Mel, unless it actually cooks them high heat just switches them off for a while but one instance of freezing does it permanently.

Re: Duvalia elegans v. namaquanum
Hi,
Ok next year I need to make a shady corner in the Greenhouse. I think Acidjohn is right they just sit there and do nothing, even when watered well. Herts_Mike I'm sure said lots of sun and water.... I got the idea he grows them in full sun, but I could be wrong.
