Make a weekend of it, Spalding Branch meeting on the Friday night, the day before the cactus mart. If you're staying overnight for the cactus mart, come along to the branch meeting.

There's too much here for one day. Apart from the Cactus Mart on the Saturday, there's Southfields Nursery, the largest cactus nursery in the UK, only a few miles away. This may be the last year to visit Southfields and, although they'll be at the Cactus Mart, it takes a few hours to see everything so I'd suggest a visit on the Friday, the day before the Cactus Mart. After the Cactus Mart, the largest independent garden centre in the UK is at Spalding, Bay Tree Nursery is open until 5pm on the Saturday, it's well worth a visit.
Spalding Branch conveniently have their branch meeting the Friday night before the Cactus Mart. There'll be a new talk with plants and slides and some entertaining 'behind the scenes' nursery views plus a chance to see a preview of some of the sales plants. There's a handy Travelodge at Spalding which is only a few miles from the branch meeting and the Cactus Mart.

This sounds like a great plan actually. My mother in law lives in Boston so I should be able to go to Southfields on Fri afternoon as I've never been before, then the branch meeting Fri evening and the mart on Saturday.
Growing in Nottingham for the past 4 years and recently found my way to a Nottingham branch meeting. A few plants on a windowsill has very quickly turned into a greenhouse full!

Attempting to grow a range of turbinicarpus, coryphantha, escobaria and several other cactus genera. Tylecodons, pelargoniums and conophytums keep me occupied in the winter and an ever expanding number of gasteria live under the bench.

If you like rare and unusual hardy plants then I would also suggest a trip Jersey Cottage Nursery.

I got some Polygonatum from there last year I have never seen before!

Are there many forum members going to Spalding on Saturday? I'd love to put some faces to names.

I'm 6'5 and pretty hefty - pretty difficult to miss.

I'll be there all day, behind the green sales trays. For anyone staying overnight on the Friday night, come along to the Spalding Branch Meeting - see website for info - where I'll be trying to come up with something entertaining.
