Aloe mayottensis

This is a rarely seen Aloe which, I think, was once a Lomatophyllum. Colin’s book suggests they haven’t seen flower or fruit and mine is yet to flower.

It looks quite unusual for an Aloe... it reminds me of some Bromeliads I have seen.

Indeed, most of those once in Lomatophyllum don’t look at all like Aloes. I think they should still be in Lomatophyllum but I’m sure there’s a scientific reason why they aren’t.
