MatDz wrote: Sat Apr 06, 2024 5:34 pm The main "announcement" thread is locked, so I'll let myself ask the question here. Hopefully the right people will see it.

Would it be possible to add short "resumes" of the confirmed traders, what plants they specialise in etc.? I know some names, but others are new to me, and I am certain I am not the only one in this situation.
Not very easy for the organisers to do, but you can get most of the information by going to the sellers' websites, if they have one. Many of these are listed on the BCSS website.
Absolutely. Maybe this could be made mandatory with the submission next time? It's certainly easy for the traders to write a couple of sentences about themselves.
We just had an update announcement, so I had another look at the list of sellers. Despite my best efforts, it seems impossible to find any information for some of them ("Sulcoman" returns 3 hits in Google search engine, none related to plants). Something to think about next year, perhaps?

Yes, next year we should ask each seller to provide some info or a website link. But we have missed the boat this year. Sulcoman is John Carr.

Do I read it correctly that both the talks are on the Sunday?

Tables booked are now 93 and I'd expect them to reach 100. Looking good. The list of nurseries seems a bit odd as, at a quick glance, at least three nurseries are listed twice under different names.

Which ones? The list was written by me from info supplied. I can only do what I'm told about.

Thanks. That's a shame - I want to be there on the first day for sales, and I live too far away to go twice.

The list includes 'Bob Potter Plants' who reappears then as ''Toobees Exotics', Andre Nitzu who reappears with the odd title of 'The Majestic Roots' and John Carr who is also the superhero with the alter-ego of 'Sulcoman'. As long as their tables haven't been duplicated, it's not a problem..

I've heard there's adverts in various garden magazines, there was meant to be adverts in Garden News but I've not spotted any when I've thumbed through them in Tescos. Has anyone seen any adverts to reach outside the BCSS regulars. If 600 people can come to a Cactus Mart in Herne Bay then it shouldn't be difficult to at least double that number for a National event. I've heard very different numbers about the number of tickets sold though I would expect most people to pay on the door. I'd recommend going for both days, four hours on the Saturday just isn't enough time to look closely at 600ft of sales tables

Agreed, ideally both days - but in terms of either driving up both days or staying overnight, it's just not feasible.
