Ok, thanks Bob! It's one I can now tick off my list now then!

[quote="Bob"]I think this indicates dubious parentage.
The actual carmenae should have pale cream flowers.

i'm wondering if the pink colour has something to do with the light .........over the last few days we had really sunny weather and now the flowers are just about white.
i'll try to get another shot of it after work tomorrow night.

Re: My second favourite Mammillaria?
Iwonder if that is in line with my earlier comment about first flush flowers starting pale pink? Has anyone else noticed this? I'll check in a couple of weeks if they've opened by then.

Re: My second favourite Mammillaria?
This is great information, Chris. Some of the hybrids are well worth growing, very nice spines plus a range of flower colours that can be very delicate.
Spine counts are also different between the species, but given that a hybrid may have every characteristic of M. carmenae except for the flower colour, it can be really hard to tell them apart.

Re: My second favourite Mammillaria?
can't wait until my newly acquired M.C. flowers now - beige or pink or somewhere between the two - only time will tell.
Not quite so new to cacti now - greenhouse up and running - a cactoholic is born!! Visits welcome - just get in touch.
