Holiday

Post by Aloenut »

Hi All,

I got back yesterday after spending a fantastic 2 1/2 weeks in South Africa. Although I didn't get into the veld I did see some big specimens of Euphorbia ingens in the Pilanesburg Game Reserve. And also some hillsides covered in Aloe marlothii on the way there.
I visited a few interesting collections and gardens. Amazing what one can grow in a decent climate.

Collection did ok in my absence. A few stressed Aloes and Haworthias. Everything got a watering yesterday evening.

Bill,
I do have a few pics of some nice gardens. I need to sort through them and will post them in due course.

Ian,
As I said, I didn't get to see much in the veld. I did see Lithops in peoples collections, nothing we don't grow over here.

Glad to hear you had fun, Frank. Yep, you did miss some weather here, is everything noticeably pinker than it was 2 1/2 weeks ago?

I'll add my little nag about pics too. ;)

Poor Lithies... they're just as nice as the wild ones. They don't ask to be born in captivity. ;)

Aloes vs. Lithops? Smaller ones are more juicy!
