While there are no daffs Vic, I do have things like begonias, fuchsias, pelgoniums and Hostas lurking about the place, they are quite happy in the darker corners

Thanks Maria.

On the subject of the bucket, if you do do one, it's not quite half I leave all the bottom in.

That's it Ralph - we should get together in pairs to buy black buckets.

I am still looking for the little 'dustbins' with lids that Tesco used to sell. I want store various potting compost components in them. I saw some at my daughter-in-law's (she was using them for children's small toys). Our nearest hypermarket does not have them, so perhaps they are a line that has vanished.

Hi Bill, have you tried just using available light, but with a Lastolight type diffuser between the sun and the plant, plus a black background? This one and the following was taken by that method:-

Nikon D200 + 60mm Micro Nikkor, Benbo Mk 1 tripod and Nikon remote release.

I never use autofocus close up because depth of field is small and autofocus does not always know exactly where you need to focus. I also screen focus ignoring focus confirmation lights and use the depth of field preview button to spread the available DOF over the essential parts.

Nice pictures by the way!

No Dave, but then I don't have a suitable diffuser and the idea was to set up something with "found" things that gave me constant light levels, no matter what the sun was doing.
