Tending more towards cacti , particularly Gymnocalyciums, Rebutias, Sulcorebutias, Echinopses, Thelos, Feros and Mamms (and anything else I like the look of!) all in an 8 x 6 polycarb greenhouse and a few windowsills!

If you chop as high as Phil suggests and then again where Sue suggests there's a good chance the middle section will root as well. You can probably tell, I hate throwing things away

Ouch...
I'd go for cutting it in two, at about Sue's line. Then look at the cut and see how healthy it is. If the top bit has rot, keep cutting slices off until it looks good, then another one just because.
The bottom has a good chance if it's not soft and there's no rot. I'm amazed how well little mamm bits knocked off will root, and this one is nice and big. Well done for drying the poor thing out so quick.
You could always detach any pups that grow from the bottom half and pot then up.
