A rather nice surprise.....

Post by Vic »

....just walked into the ghouse to find my Echinocereus palmeri in flower. It produced a few flowers last year but most of the buds aborted, so perhaps it prefers the cooler, overcast weather with less water, having only been watered 3 times this year apart from the odd misting.

Tending more towards cacti :D, particularly Gymnocalyciums, Rebutias, Sulcorebutias, Echinopses, Thelos, Feros and Mamms (and anything else I like the look of!) all in an 8 x 6 polycarb greenhouse and a few windowsills!

Fabulous - at least part of what we are all in this for. Well done - you are obviously giving it exactly what it wants.
Not quite so new to cacti now - greenhouse up and running - a cactoholic is born!! Visits welcome - just get in touch.

Hi Vic,
Well done that is excellent.
Is it definitely E. palmeri ? doesn't look right to me but then again it is difficult to see with all those flowers in the way !!!!

I've got 24hr surveillance around the perimeter of the ghouse Nick, kindly provided by 2 Rottweilers - so keep away with those secateurs of yours!!
