Josh

Post by Josh »

Oh, I've read. But I couldn't find a tick to reply there..
I'm a newbie here but not on forums, so I started out reading rules etc. And I've found two things... Though, THREE - I can see a word "center" above, while right on the left there is a word "colour"..
Does anybody know if in the topic "Posting Images Please Read" I can post or not? I couldn't see that I can, but I couldn't see any icons about any limitations there either.

(By the way, what is the difference between the "Save" and "Submit" buttons below?)

You should be able to post there, I'm not sure why you can't.
'center' makes your text justified; 'font colour' changes the font colour.

I'll copy and paste my photo posting advice from another thread:
"When you've clicked the 'post reply' button scroll down, past the box where you can write something, to the blue 'options' bit. Click on the grey/blue 'upload attachment' tab next to 'options' which should give you a 'browse...' button, among other things. Click this, then find your picture, wherever you've stored it on your computer, click 'open' then click the 'add the file' button. The screen will refresh** and this time when you scroll down to under the text entry box you'll see the filename of your photo. Click on the 'place inline' button which will put a bit of code into the main message body. You can, of course, type other things before or after this in your message. If you keep scrolling down you'll get to the 'upload attachment' tab again, allowing you to repeat the above to add a second photo as appropriate.

**If it tells you that the file is too big you'll have to shrink the photo size to less than 250kb somehow, you may already have software on your computer that can do this; I use a small, free program called jpeg resampler."

I hope this helps you!

"Save" saves the text as a draft on the server without publishing it on the forum. You can of course open the draft later, in the user control panel.

Stop-stop-stop: the issue is that the two words are from different variants of English, o'k? I'm studying BE as a specialist and could help you reporting something via PM, eh?

Aha, I then compared the two threads — that one lacked both the "Postreply" button and "Quote" ones. By the way, is there a possibility to reply to a user without quoting? (Of course we have "delete" on keyboards and so on, but it's just interesting.)

As for how to post images, thank you — anyway, I'm now still wondering on "how to post altogether  " (to be trying now out there to find the mentioned buttons  ).
See you, thanks.

Thanks, anders, nice to meet you
By the way, could you know why I can't see my previous posts here while they were a few minutes ago? They seemed to be successfully allowed :???:

Hi Josh,
I've split your posts into a new thread.

Now you have managed to post, you can tell us about your plants.

Yes, thanks.
I have a few dieffenbachias and a little clutch of tiny succulents which I tend to define as cacti. I have tried to find the specification so that I could care the best about them, but I've failed: I was searching via "shape", but...
I am now weak at the proper terminology to describe their shape in words, and I haven't devised how to obtain a sufficient picture yet - the issue is that my plants are fairly tiny:) and have elements about which I stumbled upon on those sources I was searching.
I've read through the topic about picture posting, and came across the following: «The image size needs to be less than 250kb.» It is extremely scanty: 250/8 makes 30 kB (1 kB = 8 kb).
I've noticed something about some photobucket or so, so I'm going to learn things about this.
NB. If someone could help me find the fastest way to obtain the proper terminology considering cacti and succulents, I'll be

Image size need to be less than 256KB which might seem small but when images are viewed in the forum they are about 640 pixels wide so I usually re-size my pictures before uploading which makes it easier to get down to the size limit without using too much compression when making the jpg. Image below is 610x407 pixels and is only 143KB, the original file is 4272x2848 and 13.6MB
