Well, after what seems like years in the planning, I depart in the wee hours tomorrow for Chile to join up with Paul Klaassen, Rudolf Schulz, Juan Acosta etc, to see what all the fuss is about in this Atacama place. If I get a chance I'll post a line or two "from the field" to let you all know how it's all going.
Word from our advance scout (Rudolf) is that it's the dryest he's ever seen it...yikes!
Talk to you all later...play nice while I'm away

Re: Copiapoathon 2007
well folks, I'm back after a fabulous trip through northern Chile. Everything went well, saw heaps of plants with a great group of people. Missed out on looking for Eriosyce Laui due to the earthquakes, but saw pretty much everything else I wanted to see.
Chile is a great place to visit, friendly people, good food and all pretty cheap. If you ever get the oppurtunity to get there, go for it !
I'll post some pics when I've had a chance to got through them all...

Re: Copiapoathon 2007
hello Trevor
yep, it was a big group of people... joking all the time but also with interesting conversations about the cacti in its own habitat in the chilean desert.

But now we are not walking in the desert, jeje... we are in Santiago enjoying the route of wine ("la ruta del vino")
