Re: November 2013 - Genus of the Month - Turbinicarpus
I was always put off getting Turbinicarpus because I thought they must be difficult/cold sensitive etc because they had a similar name to Ariocarpus. I asked a few years ago on the forum for suggestions for plants in a cold greenhouse, and was skeptical when Turbinicarpus was mentioned. Anyway these are a few of the ones I've got since and none of them take up too much room and they all have nice flowers.

Neither Ariocarpus or Turbinicarpus are particularly sensitive to cold (or that difficult). In fact, I think most of them can take a hard frost unscathed. They don't like moisture and cold though, that's for sure.Chris L wrote:I was always put off getting Turbinicarpus because I thought they must be difficult/cold sensitive etc because they had a similar name to Ariocarpus.
