Notocactus claviceps
When I purchased this Notocacus claviceps in 1981 it was just under 3 inches tall. It grew and flowered and I was going to give it to the Hollygate Reference Collection but Terry Hewett passed away and the plant stayed where it was It continued to get taller and eventually it fell over so I repotted the plant. It it now too heavy for an old man like me to move but it still makes a wonderful show each year when it flowers.

Endeavouring to grow Aylostera, Echinocereus, Echinopsis, Gymnocalycium, Matucana, Rebutia, and Sulcorebutia. Fallen out of love with Lithops and aggravated by Aeoniums.
Currently being wooed by Haworthia, attempting hybridisation, and enticed by Mesembs. Recently discovered gorgeous Gasteria.

Re: Notocactus claviceps
John, that is a simply super specimen!
I grew some Notocactus claviceps ssp. itaubensis HU500 from seed last year, and its nice to see a mature plant. They got off to a slowish start, but have started to grow faster now they are a year old.
